Second Class!

Second Class!

Dr. Margaret Carroll, a biologist from Framingham State College, facilitated this class.  She talked to us about the rainforest habitat, the tropical climate and the fact that Costa Rica is aseasonal due to the temperature.  The only seasons are the wet season and the dry season.  Gladly, we will be there in the dry season!  There are 4 mountain ranges.  The highest peak is over 12,000 feet.  No, we are not going to climb this peak!  There are 120 volcanoes and of those 120, 5 are presently active.  I'm so excited to hike in the rainforest, by day and by flashlight at night, and to go kayaking in the mangroves of Costa Rica.  Arenal Volcano, pictured here, is one of the active volcanoes that we will see on this trip.  I cannot wait!
