A School Visit

We had the most wonderful visit to a school today. Escuela La Cruz. It's a little neighborhood school out in the country near Monte Verde.

Today is Saturday, so school was not in session but the teacher and the children and parents all came to meet us. The children were all dressed in traditional dance costumes and were thrilled to perform for us.

There is just one teacher and 12 students, grades 1-6, however this year there are no 6th graders. This is the teacher. I plan to email with her and will hopefully send her some gifts from our school.

After the dancing and talking through a translator (the teacher's son 20 year old son who travelled 2 hours from college on 3 busses for the event), they had a reception for us. The parents served us delicious juice, homemade bread and homemade jam. they were all so welcoming and kind.
Another treasured experience. The students were precious and the adults as kind and welcoming as can be.

  1. I love that you were able to see some traditional dancing. The name of that school has Hart's middle name-love that pic! Have fun!

  3. And everyone says my elementary school was small in Vermont! Only 12 students! It must be hard for her to teach such different ages at the same time. Love the outfits the children were wearing for the dancing. Hope you are having a blast!
